Ride of Silence

group ride, memorial ride, Columbia SC-Summit Cycles

Ladies and Gentlemen, it's time to let our silence ROAR! The Midlands Ride of Silence will take place on Wednesday, May 16 and will leave from our West Columbia store at 7pm. If you are unfamiliar with this ride, check out the RofS homepage and our local group can be found on Facebook. This year's “Ride” will be a bit longer than past editions at just under 7 miles. We will have a hill or two to contend with but it's a mostly flat route that utilizes both US 1 and US 378. While I would usually avoid these roads on a normal ride, I think there use here is appropriate to raise the awareness of drivers to cyclists rights to use the roads. Plus, we will have the support of the West Columbia PD. Please remember to ride no more than two abreast and, of course, remain silent until the last rider has finished. Post ride festivities are still under work, I just received confirmation of two Food Trucks, so if I where you, I'd at least plan to bring a lawn chair and a beverage or two of your choice! Remember, this ride is not about going fast or far, it's about making a statement. Invite everyone you know with a bike and let's make this the biggest ride ever! One final note, please do NOT park in our parking lot (between us and Bill's Pickin' Parlor.) Instead, use the undeveloped lot on the other side of the store or you may park across the street at either Best Mattress or McGee Auction Gallery.

That's all for now, take care and safe cycling! Tim
